Playing is hard work!

Saturday morning Mason was fighting his nap (which is something he seems to do a lot lately) so I decided to give his Jumperoo a try for a little while.  He has not been in that thing for months as he would much rather be on the loose, crawling around getting into trouble!  But to my surprise he was excited to be in there so I took full advantage and jumped in the shower while he was contained and safe.  I could hear him jumping and screaming while I was in the shower so I knew he was doing just fine.  I started to shampoo my hair and I realized he was silent, I waited a moment and still heard nothing.  I immediately became nervous... what happened, did he get out?  I ran out of the shower skipping the towel, leaving footprints all the way and with shampoo in my hair to see what happened.  I burst into his room to find this....
Well now why didn't he just go to sleep while I was rocking him?  I knew he was tired!  Crazy kid I tell you!

Project Complete, Finally!

We took full advantage of our day off today and worked on some household projects.  We replaced our entryway closet door (it was holding on by about one and half bolts) and as long as my dad was over and helping us we decided to finally trim the front and back doors, it has only been about 3 years since the doors were installed.  Colton was very excited to help his Pop Pop with the project, he had on his tool belt and safety goggles which are missing the lenses and his entire set of tools spread out all over the kitchen floor - crazy kid! I am so happy to finally have this project completed and it makes the corner of our kitchen look completely different.

I guess he calls the shots now...

Yesterday after basketball practice I told Colton we were going to stop at Great Clips so he could get a hair cut as his hair style was starting to look a little homely! He immediately rebutted with "No Mom, I don't want to cut my hair. I want to a Mohawk!". Yah, like that is going to happen. When we got to Great Clips the stylist pulled up his name in the computer and said "the same as usual?", which is a number 2 buzz all the way around, super simple and no styling involved for me. Before I could even mutter a syllable Colton responded with " I want a Mohawk". I looked at the lady with what I thought was a 'that is not happening' look in my eyes and she responded with "Maybe a Fohawk, #2 in back and on the sides?". I answered with "Sure that sounds good". Wait, what just happened, did my child just start calling the shots around here? I think so. Once she was done cutting she used some "Spiker" gel to create her masterpiece when Colton suddenly realized that it was not the same kind of gel that his daddy uses and informed me that he needs to buy some of that for his Mohawk. I informed him "NO" and this time I was going to win (and I did). We will see how many days he actually gets up early enough to do his hair before I buy him his own hair gel. Seriously, what has happened here? He is 5 not 15 - where did my baby go? All I can say is he looks pretty darn cute with his new haircut, everything else about the experience I am still trying to compute!

Winter Gala 2012

Colton performed in his Winter Gala tonight at KinderKare. Frankie and I were both able to make it to the show which made Colton so happy! His class sang the Grinch song. They had little programs that they had made with the words in them... of course Colton cannot read all of the words but none the less he had one! It wasn't until half way through the song that I realized he was holding his upside down - proof that he was not reading the words at all! It was fun to watch all the kids perform. Colton didn't sign very loud, which he later informed us was becuase he was shy - yah, since when?!?!

I took a video of his song but it is almost 2 minutes long and it just won't load - so I have given up!

I couldn't ask for any more than these two...

I have been quite sick and tired and crabby the last couple days but when I saw my two boys so much in love with each other I realized I have everything I could ever need in life and I couldn't ask for anymore. I love you Colton and Mason.

Happy New Year!

Well we are 3 days into 2012 and I am still sick! Not a great start to a new year but hopefully things will turn around soon! We spent New Years Eve at my parents house again this year. Frankie was the chef for the evening making quite the spread as always. This years menu included Mac and Cheese Bites, Jalepeno Poppers and Shrimp Cocktail as appetizers and Prime Rib, Twice Baked Potatoes and giant Lobster Tails for the main course! They closed out the night with Creme Brulee and Pineapple/Starwberry Angel food cake. I don't have many pictures becuase well I didn't feel good, but my mom did snap a few for me! Everyone seemed to really enjoy the food, wish I could have becuase it looked amazing! I was sleeping by about 9:30 while everyone else partied it up until midnight (and some much much longer). We left my parents house around 12:30, made a stop at Walgreens for some meds for me and then headed home. My mom kept the boys so I was able to sleep in on New Years Day - I slept until noon which is something I haven't done since college. I thought I was feeling better by Sunday night but today I still feel like crap - this is the cold that just will not go away!

New Years also brought some great news for our friends Alicia and Dan as they welcomed their newest addition to their family on New Years Eve morning and my cousin Brian and his wife Lindsey as they welcomed their daughter into the world on New Years Day! Congrats to both families, can't wait to meet both the little ones which is another reason that I need to get feeling better and very soon! Here's to hoping 2012 turns around soon as we have so much to look forward this year. Happy New Year Everyone!

Christmas Morning

Christmas Morning was perfect! We woke up to Colton crawling in bed with us and shortly after we heard Mason yelling for us through his moniter. Colton found presents from Santa in front of our fireplace and his stocking was full so the excitement was through the roof. We got up and opened presents with our boys - best moments ever. Colton was helping his little brother open his presents and explaining what each one did, made me very proud of my little man. Mason didn't fully understand what in the world all the excitement was about but he did know that with all that paper being ripped and thrown around the room he was getting new toys! Colton asked Santa for Yoshi's for Christmas and Santa came through like he always does... he brought 9 Yoshi stuffed animals and placed them all in the Christmas Tree. It took a little hinting for Colton to go look in the tree but once he found one he was thrilled and then as he discovered more he became the happiest kid ever! Overall it was the prefect Christmas Morning, we have two healthy little boys who are the center of our lives and we couldn't ask for anymore. Merry Christmas.

Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas Eve at Freddie and Melissa's house and we had a great night. Colton loves running around with his cousins and this night was no different. Mason was completely spoiled by all the people who wanted to hold and snuggle him! We enjoyed appetizers and very yummy homemade Mac and Cheese and of course opened all kinds of presents. Being with family is what Christmas is all about!
