Well this Island Trip has been a little different than our past ones for several reasons. We decided to fly this year instead of spend 4 days on the road and none of my family will be joining us this year so it will be a nice quiet week with just Frankie, the boys, Grandma Yvonne and myself. We left Sunday morning and landed in New Orleans, LA just after lunch time. The boys both did awesome on the plane. Mason was filled with excitement as we want to take off and once in the air it didn't take long for him to be napping. HE slept for almost 2.5 hours and the flight was only 3 hours! Grandma Yvonne picked us up at the airport and by 4pm we were on the beach and vacation had started. We spent that first night playing on the beach until the sun went down and then Monday was a beautiful day filled with sunshine (even though they predicted rain for the entire day). We spent the entire day on the beach building giant sand creations like a Manta Ray and a Snowman and we of course spent some time playing in the waves even though the water was so cold... can't let that stop us right! We also did plenty of fishing from the shore and caught enough for a delicious dinner. Mason loved helping daddy clean the fish. Tuesday was another okay day, some clouds and plenty of fog but no rain so we were able to spend plenty of time outside. Wednesday Frankie and I went on a Charter fishing trip, the fog was quite dense still so we could go out fishing by the rigs (which is a great place to catch fish) but we did spend almost 7 hours fishing in the bay and caught plenty however not all of them were keepers. We came home with enough fish for two fresh fish dinners which is really all we needed anyways. We did head out Crab Hunting Wednesday night, the wind had pretty much completely died down (which doesn't happen too often on the Gulf side of the island) and we saw so many crabs running along the beach! Thursday I decided to get in a nice long run, the distance from our house to the west end of the island and back is almost exactly a 5K so I thought I would give it a shot. A little to my surprise I did quite well, especially considering that I was running into the wind on the way back (15-20 mph winds) and that was no joke! We went out to our favorite Mexican place for lunch ( I know, we come to the south where they have fresh seafood everywhere we turn and we opt for Mexican cuisine)! Then we took the boys over to the ship yards to see all the Shrimp Boats, they thought that was pretty neat. Then Thursday night Frankie, Colton and I decided to walk the went end of the island. We drove down to the parking lot and started our trek. We walked out 1.6 miles (thanks to awesome apps which can track how far you have gone) and then decided we better turn back before it gets dark! It was an awesome walk and I even found a whole sand dollar on our adventure. We ended with a fresh fish dinner and another game of train dominoes. We still have 4 days of vacation left and we plan to make the most of them however today is very windy and rainy so we are relaxing inside playing on electronics and watching movies! This beats being at work any day :) Okay here comes the picture dump.... sorry in advance for the number of them but this is 5 days worth of pictures!
