Great Weekend!

I had one of the best weekends that I have had in a long time. Saturday night I got together with some of my best friends for a sleepover. We played Pictionary, which I really suck at, drank some wine and Daquiries and took lots of drunken pics!

Then on Sunday we woke up to the biggest snow amounts of the year. After digging our cars out and finally making it home Colton, Frankie and I went outside to play in the snow. Frankie of course did some snowmobiling and Colton and I made a snowman. The snow wasn't very sticky but it worked. We had so much fun, and now the weatherman is saying that we could pick up an additional 4-6 inches tomorrow and Thursday and I couldn't be more excited. I love snow, it makes everything look so pretty. Well I hope everyone else had as good of a weekend as I did. Keep praying for snow, we have a lot to make up we are way behind this year for snow amounts!!

Partner in Hope!

I have been listening to the K102 St Jude's Radioathon for the past three days and everytime I hear a story about a child who lost their battle with cancer I start to cry. These stories have always made me cry but I think now that I have a son it is even harder to hear about someone losing their child. I couldn't imagine Colton being in the hospital with an illness as serious as Cancer. St Jude's Hospital and Research is an awesome thing and I figured what better time than now to donate. So this morning on my way to work I became a Partner in Hope. And it is a great feeling knowing that my donation will go to fight and hopefully someday illiminate Childhood Cancer. Also for becoming a Partner in Hope K102 will give you a one day pass for 2 to Country Jam, so now I just need to find someone to go with me.

Ash Wednesday

Every year I say I am going to give something up for Lent and then about 5 days into my battle I give up. So this year I am going to win the battle with myself. And I am giving up Chocolate! I was debating between Chocolate and Caffiene. And for everyone else's sake I decided on chocolate. I don't thing I should go without caffiene for that long I would be a very crabby person. So anyways starting today no more chocolate for me. And I am already craving one of those Nutty Butter Bars in the cupboard but I am going to be strong and not eat one. Good thing Oatmeal Creme Pies don't have any chocolate, they will be my life saver! Man it is 8am on the first day and I am already thinking about chocolate, this is going to be a long 6 1/2 weeks!

Scary Moments

Well this has been a long week. Colton woke up coughing pretty bad on Wednesday morning and of course being the worried parent that I am I took him to see his doctor. She said that he has Croup and that there is nothing we can do becuase it is a virus. She said it just needs to run its course. Well Thursday morning he woke up at 4am breathing really heavy. I figured it was just from him being congested, but after a couple hours I called the doctor and she said to take him to Children's Emergency. Of course now I start to panic a little. So we take him Children's Hospital and they immediatly gave him a neubulizer and a dose of steriods. And that seemed to calm him down for about an hour and then the rapid heavy breathing started again. So they gave him another neubulizer. And told us that they were going to admit him until he was stable enough not to need any more neubulizer treatments. Needless to say the second one seemed to work but we will didn't get discharged until 9pm that night. I was so glad to be going home with him I didn't care what time it was. He is doing much better today. He has been taking his dose of steroids twice a day to keep the swelling down and it seems to be working good. But I must say it was one of the scariest things I had to go through and it wasn't even that serious. I cired quite a few times on Thursday! It is so hard to see your own child struggle and know that there is nothing you can do to help!
