Arrow of Light Camp

So Colton and I once again got to spend some quality time together at Cub Scout Camp this summer.   This time it was from Wednesday to Saturday and on the hottest days of the summer.  We were prepared with our tent, plenty of changes of clothes, air mattress, 2 coolers, camp chairs, 3 cases of water (1 frozen in hopes that it will stay cold for a couple days), plenty of snacks, battery powered fans to help us sleep, several bottles of sunscreen and bug spray and off we went to Tomahawk Scout Reservation.  The first night some crazy severe storms rolled into camp and I would be lying if I said I wasn't terrified to my core but I had to pretend that it was all okay so the scouts would remain calm and after an hour of lightening strikes, thunder so loud it shook the tent and wind that had our tent swaying back and forth it all passed and we were finally able to get some sleep!  After that storm the rest of the weekend seemed so easy.  We got to do so much including BB's guns, archery, climbing, swimming, ecology rotations, fire building, whittling, hikes, mini golf, crazy meals in the mess hall (which had no air conditioning and the temps were in the high 90's outside so inside a building with over 150 people it was almost unbearable), plenty of camp sing along songs with our counselors and we ended our camp stay with a hike up the 9 story fire tower!  We even got to take part in fun events like Fish, Toad, Turtle and Snake Races, Dandoline Eating Contests, Polar Plunge (swimming at 6am) and climbing to the top of the Climbing Tower to buy Klondike Bars.  It was a long 4 days, jam packed with fun and laughs and I will cherish these scout camps forever as it is so much fun for Colton and I get to spend so much one on one time together and I love watching him explore and master so many new things with each new camp!

Girls Weekend 2016

Another Girls weekend with 7 of the most amazing woman is complete and this one will be very hard to beat!  We spent the weekend in downtown Chicago.  A friend was able t to hook us up with a gorgeous condo on the 48th floor over looking Millennium Park,  We had access to our private rooftop patio, I mean seriously this place was unreal.  We spent plenty of time just lounging around the condo and catching up with each other.  Friday night we spent the morning/afternoon shopping and exploring Millennium park.  Friday night we went to see The Book of Mormon was was amazing, my face hurt from laughing so hard.  Saturday we went to the beach and played in the water a little and then another friends cousin took us for a cruise down the Chicago River.  The view were simply stunning, the weather was amazing and the fun that the 8 of us bring when we are together cannot be beat by anyone!  It was such a perfect weekend and it was hard to accept that it had to come to end.  I am so lucky to have such good girlfriends in my life and I hope that we continue these girls weekends for many years to come because they are so much fun and great way to reset in life.  I got home feeling refreshed and ready to take on all the crazy plans and busy days that lie ahead of me!

One last picture on the rooftop as I try accept that my life doesn't include living in a million dollar condo with stunning views of Lake Michigan!  And I am okay that is not my life, but it sure was fun to live that lifestyle if even for a few days!

4th of July

We spent the 4th of July weekend at the lake with my parents and like always we had a great weekend.  Clint and his nephew joined us for the weekend as well and I think they really enjoyed it to, despite some of the crazy shenanigans that always seem to happy on this holiday wekeend.  We spent plenty of time swimming, eating, fishing (Clint, Austin, Colton and my dad went out bright and early every morning) and just having fun.  Of course we took part in the annual Bike Parade through the campground and this time Mason would be riding his own bike without training wheels.  It was very exciting, he begged us to take off the training wheels so we finally did on Friday night and to my surprise he just took off and never looked back.  Seriously, my baby is growing up way too fast.  We had a fabulous 4th of July weekend and I hope that this is a tradition that continues for another 20 years at least!
