We Love the Lake

He is so tan... it makes me look like I have been sheltered from the sun all summer!
Colton loves to be in the water, and he loves building sand castles with Boomer.

We spent all last weekend up at the lake and it was great. It was so relaxing. The weather was perfect. And becuase the lake is so shallow (way down due to the lack of water the past few years), the water is nice and warm. Actually maybe a little too warm in some spots! Colton loves being at the lake. Although once he is walking it will be much better. He is still crawling everywhere and let me tell you he is quite dirty by the end of the day! We are planning on going to the lake again this weekend, and this time Frankie got off work so he can go too! We bought Colton his own life jacket and we are planning on getting him in the boat for the first time! I hope he likes it.

In other news, Colton goes to the doctor today for his one year check-up. So we will find out what he weighs and how tall he is! I am sure he is about off the charts by now. He also has a very red and swollen eye ( I think it is Pink Eye) so we will be getting that checked out. We plan on taking him to see Fire Works tomorrow, as long as he is feeling good after his vaccinations and his eye is better! We are still waiting for him to take his first steps on his own. He walks along the furniture like it is no big deal but he just won't let go! We are also hoping to take away bottles soon, but it is not easy. We are only using them for naps and bedtime, but that is going to have to stop and I am not sure if he will ever sleep again! Okay well I have to get going, I have to feed him lunch and then we are off to the doctor. I will update about the doctor visit later this week.

UPDATE: Well we just got back from the doctor and he was very good. He weighs 26 pounds and 12 ounces and he is 32" tall; which puts him the 90th percentile for both. He got 3 shots and he did very good, he cried of course but that is to be expected. He also had to get his finger pricked to they could check his blood. He didn't seem to mind that too bad which surprised me. And the doctor confirmed my guess.. he has Pink Eye! So we have drops to put in his eyes every 3 hours for the next week. Other than that he is as healthy as we could have hoped for!

He's 1 Already!

Well it is official my baby has turned 1! He turned one on Saturday and we had his birthday party on Sunday! We had his party at Heritage Park just down the street from our house and it turned out perfect. It was a nice hot day, but at least there was a breeze! We grilled burgers, had potato salad and lots of fruit! (My brother's graduation party was on Saturday so we just made double batches of everything). Colton had his own personal cake. And let me tell you I think he has eated enough frosting to last him until his 2nd birthday! At first he didn't know why we gave him a whole cake, but he quickly realized how good it tasted and it was a mess from there! It was a lot of fun. And of course he got lots of awesome presents. Our living room looks like a toy store! You can hardly see the couches in there! Hopefully we will be able to carpet our family room soon and then half of the toys can move down there. Especially the big ones, like his rocking horse, his bouncy car and his 6 foot tunnel! And you should see the garage! He has 4 ride on toys (thanks to awesome Woodbury Garage Sales), lots of dump trucks and diggers (thanks to a friend who has two boys that have gotten too old for them), two strollers, a pool and now a wagon! It is insane... we have no space anymore! Anyways, I have accepted that my baby is growing up! He has so much personallity now it is a lot of fun. Although I am thinking he may need a new little sibling soon.... but Frankie doesn't seem to agree yet so I think he may have to wait a while. For now I am just going to enjoy watching him learn to walk, learn to talk and just explore everything is sight!

Crazy Busy Month!

This is going to the busiest month for us. And I am already dreading it. This Friday my brother graduates from High School. The ceremony is at Roy Wilkins in St Paul becuase they are doing construction on our stadium. Satuday we have a wedding to go to and the reception is at Treasure Island Casino (which means it will be a long night). Next Tuesday is our 3 year wedding anniversary although I don't think we are doing anything special! The 16th is Colton's 1st Birthday and my brother's graduatation party. The 17th is Colton's Birthday party (which is going to be so much fun)! And the next weekend is my nephews baptism. Not to mention that we have taken in my sisters 5 month old raterier puppy! He has so much energy and he is Colton's Partner in Crime! It is crazy! I can't wait until July when I will have some free time.

I can't believe Colton is going to be one already! I feel like I was just in the hospital asking for an epidural! It has been an amazing year! He is so much fun now. Although he is quite the
little shit. He still isn't walking on his own... but he can move very quickly on all fours! My mom use to always say the my brother would eat her out of house and home.. and now I understand what she was talking about! Colton loves to eat. We are looking forward to many trips to the lake, trips to the zoo and whatever else comes up this summer!

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a great Mother's Day, but with a son like Colton I think it would be impossible not to! We went to the Carousel to eat with my mom, my sister and brother and Frankie's mom!

Check out that little Cutie!

My first Mother's Day will be one that I will never forget. Although I don't need holiday to feel special, being a mom is better than I could have ever imagined. I never realized I could love someone so much, and having a Colton has made Frankie and I closer then ever. It is amazing! Colton can make me smile even on my worst days! And he seems to make the stress of everyday life disappear. Being a mom is the best gift I could ever ask for.

Training him early!!

I am training him in early! He is my big helper... even if I didn't ask for his help he is right there! He is pulling himself up along everything and I don't think it will be long and he will running around! He walks along the couch but he usually looses his balance after a few steps.

9 Months Old

I can't believe it but Colton is already nine months old! We took him for his 9 month check-up last night and everything is great. He weighs 24 pounds 10 ounces and he is 30" long!! He is a very big boy! He is crawling all over the place now. I turn my head for a second and he is gone! He keeps me very busy and I wouldn't give it up for anything. He is starting to say a few words... mama, dada and others that we don't understand! He also waves bye-bye, but only when he wants to! It is amazing to watch him change everyday. Today we went to the park and he got to go on the swings for the very first time and he LOVED them! He was laughing and kicking his feet the whole time! I guess I know what we will be doing every afternoon from now on!

Proud Auntie

Isaac Nicholas was born this morning at United Hospital. He weighed in at 6 pounds 14 ounces and is 20 inches long. Melissa is doing good. She ended up having a C-Section delivery but she is recovering well. Colton and I went to meet the little one this morning and he is just so small. I don't even remember Colton being that small! He makes Colton look huge (well I guess he is!). I can't wait until Isaac is older... him and Colton are going to be partners in crime! They are only 9 months apart!! I will post some more pictures later. We didn't stay long this morning... we wanted to let them rest!

Great Weekend!

I had one of the best weekends that I have had in a long time. Saturday night I got together with some of my best friends for a sleepover. We played Pictionary, which I really suck at, drank some wine and Daquiries and took lots of drunken pics!

Then on Sunday we woke up to the biggest snow amounts of the year. After digging our cars out and finally making it home Colton, Frankie and I went outside to play in the snow. Frankie of course did some snowmobiling and Colton and I made a snowman. The snow wasn't very sticky but it worked. We had so much fun, and now the weatherman is saying that we could pick up an additional 4-6 inches tomorrow and Thursday and I couldn't be more excited. I love snow, it makes everything look so pretty. Well I hope everyone else had as good of a weekend as I did. Keep praying for snow, we have a lot to make up we are way behind this year for snow amounts!!
