Doggie Day 5K

Colton and I ran our first 5K (3.125 miles) together this morning and he did awesome.  We completed the race in 55minutes and 10seconds.  Although I was started to get worried when at the 1 mile marker he said his legs were too sore and he couldn't go any further.  Needless to say that after water at the halfway point and passing the 2 mile marker the kid found some hidden energy and he finished the race hard.  He actually finished before me... he took off sprinting for the finish line about a quarter mile out and I didn't bother to keep up as I knew he couldn't keep that pace all the way to the finish but he proved me wrong... he didn't slow down at all and once people started cheering for him he pushed even harder!  I am very proud of my little man for completing his first 5K!  Also I want to thank everyone who donated to our team.... with your help we were able to reach our goal and raised $502 for Coco's Heart Animal Rescue.   We were the top fundraising team so Thank You very much for all your support and donations, we have the best friends and family!  The icing on the cake... I won a 60 minute massage which I can't wait to use (anyone who registered for the race prior to July 20th was entered into a drawing and low and behold I won)!  My sister did not run the race this year as she was hanging out with the dogs that were at the event hoping to get adopted but she did make sure to take pictures of us as we started and finished the race.  Here are our pictures from our big race!

After the race we headed to Grandma Yvonne's house for lunch and a celebratory DQ cake!!

Bathtime for Hank!

I am one of those people who hates to spend $10 just to have my car washed but then again I am usually too lazy to do it myself.  Well now with Hank (yes my van has a name) I am doing my best to keep him clean inside and out so car washes are a regular occurrence. Also I am pretty sure I have vacuumed him more times in the past two months than I did my last vehicle in the past two years - oh well, nothing wrong with trying to keep a car looking nice right? Anyways, with this hot and humid weather and boys only wanting to play outside if it involves water I figured I might as well put them to work.  Yup, they gave Hank a bath!  Colton even vacuum the entire van which took almost 20 minutes but at least it is done!  By the time Hank's bath was done both boys were completely soaked and ready for their own bath.  Moral of this post - put your kids to work and you can save some money while still accomplishing something on the "to do" list and helping them burn some energy - WIN/WIN for everyone involved!

My little ride warrior!

Colton and I were lucky enough to spend our entire Sunday at Valleyfair.  My cousin Eric (Uncle Eric to Colton) also joined us for the day.  This was Colton's first time and I was a little nervous if it would not be worth the money (although I am a season ticket holder and it was bring a friend Sunday so he got in for only $19.99).  Colton is just over 48" and he is finally tall enough to go on almost all of the rides so I felt this was a good time to take him (the few he can't get on yet are ones that I don't mind skipping - Power Tower)!!  We started out slow - Antique Cars (which he thought were awesome cause he got to drive all by himself - and made Mommy ride in the back seat), The Monster and a few kiddie rides.  Then all of a sudden he was ready for big kid rides... he picked the Mad Mouse and loved it although about halfway through when he noticed there was another big drop coming up and he yelled out - "Oooooh Shit"!  I just laughed cause he said exactly what I was thinking!!  Then we headed to the waterpark to cool off - we floated on the lazy river for a while and then played in the wave pool which Colton though was more than awesome!  After the waterpark it was back to big kid rides... Tilt A Whirl, Thunder Canyon, Mad Mouse again, The Wave (several times in a row) and then we got him on the Corkscrew.  He was more than willing to go on the corkscrew as he saw the initial hill and decided that it wasn't too high for him, however as we were in line he said he didn't want to do any loopty loops - I ensured him this one just went "around".  He decided that was okay so away we went.  I wish I had a picture of him on this ride... he was so tiny in the seat with the overhead harness that he didn't even show up in the photo that they took of us on the ride!  Needless to say he liked the ride... the height and the loops didn't even scare him the problem was that his head bounced around and hit the sides of the shoulder bar becuase of his height.... he justs needs to be a bit taller to really enjoy that one I think!  Lastly we played a few games and he won a stuffed animal (cause he needs more of those).   We spent 8 hours at the park and were all more than ready to get home and in bed after our long day of heat and rides!

I of course did not carry my camera in the park... I did however have my phone so I was able to capture a few pictures from Colton's first trip to Valleyfair!  The quality isn't great but at least we have some pics!

It's a Pirate Party!

So four years ago I was asked to be godmother to one of the most amazing little boys!  I am so lucky to be godmother over this happy, spunky, healthy little guy and today we got to help him celebrate his 4th birthday.  I still remember sitting at his house holding him as a newborn when his mom and dad asked if I would be his godmother and I was so honored (and cried a little bit - I know I am a sap) - now he is already turning 4 which just doesn't seem possible.  To my little Jaxxy, I love you to the moon and back!  Happy 4th Birthday to the best Godson I could have ever asked for!

Insert Birthday Notes:  My sister-in-law is amazing.  She always has the most put together birthday parties and this one was no different.  It was a pirate birthday party with pirate tattoos, eye patches and pirate hats for each kid (and they had to take their picture in their pirate gear as they entered or they had to "Walk the Plank".  There were Pirate decorations, Pirate Pinata, Pirate Cupcakes, Snowcone Machine and my favorite.... Shark Watermelon and edible Sailing Pirate Ships (Mandarine orange on blue jello)!
