Operation Christmas Child

This is our 3rd year participating in Operation Christmas Child.  If you have never heard of this program here is a brief description:  Since 1993, more than 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child. Samaritan’s Purse works with local churches and ministry partners to deliver the gifts and share the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ.

It is an awesome program and we love participating.  We let each of the boys create a gift box for a boy their same age.  We have done this program through our church for three years now and it is a great opportunity for the boys to pick out toys, school supplies and personal hygiene items for a child that they will never meet just to spread God's love.  Colton loves picking out the items and always gets so excited when he thinks about how much his "friend" is going to love the particular toy or item he has chosen. He also usually talks about how sad it is that there are kids in the world who don't have toys to play with all the time like he does, this is a great reminder for him to remember just how lucky he is to live the life he is living and it is a great reminder for me as well.  We have so much yet it never seems to be enough and we are always working to "get more" but there are others in the world who have far less and are still truly happy.  Sometimes it is nice to get the friendly reminder that possessions are not as important as friends, family and good health.
